1. Brief Introduction
Roll components are widely used in production line equipment, such as in industries like papermaking, printing, film manufacturing, and textiles, performing various different functions. Currently, conventional roll components are mostly made of steel. Steel rolls have high rigidity and precision, but they are heavy and prone to corrosion. Therefore, rolls made of aluminum or polymer materials are adopted. However, these materials are soft, have poor wear resistance, and the weight reduction is limited.
Carbon fiber is an inorganic fiber material with high modulus. Its specific gravity is only 1.78, and its modulus exceeds 250GPa, which is close to that of steel, but it is much lighter than steel. Its main component is carbon, and it is an inorganic brittle material. Carbon fiber has no plastic deformation, with a breaking elongation of only about 2%. It is very suitable for application scenarios like roll components that require high rigidity.
Our company's carbon fiber rolls are manufactured using winding forming and hot-press curing processes. By adopting the dry prepreg narrow tape technology developed by the company, combined with high-performance winding equipment, the control of material properties is achieved in the process. The obtained material is dense, with high fiber content, high strength, and high rigidity, and can be designed according to the usage needs of different users.
2. Performance Characteristics
Light weight and small inertia. The weight of parts made of carbon fiber is 1/4 to 1/5 that of steel parts and 1/2 to 1/3 that of aluminum alloy parts. For equipment that needs to change speed frequently, the start-up and braking cycles can be shortened, improving work efficiency. Alternatively, it can significantly reduce the energy consumption for start-up and braking, reduce the specifications of the driver, and lower costs.
The hardness of carbon fiber composite materials is 70-80巴氏 (Barcol), with high surface hardness and wear resistance. In a wet friction environment, carbon fiber has strong bonding force with lubricating materials, low friction coefficient, and strong wear resistance.
Carbon fiber has a low thermal expansion coefficient, so the working environment has little impact on its dimensions.

The surface condition of the product depends on the user's requirements. Rough-processed blanks can be provided according to the user's needs, and the user can perform finishing and surface treatment according to their own usage requirements.
